As Wellspace’s Client Experience + Brand Manager, I guide our clients in their search for the right therapist, coach, or nutritionist. I am fun-loving, non-judgemental, and compassionate and will provide you with the soft-hearted support you need as you embark on your wellness journey. I’ve been passionate about food and its connection to my health since I was a little girl. At age eight, I came home one day to my meat-eating family and announced that I was a vegetarian. I liked animals too much to eat them and I thought a plant forward diet was better for my health. My South Carolina barbecue-loving friends didn’t know how to handle the news and their parents often asked “Well, what will we feed her?” before I came over for a sleepover.
In college, I discovered a passion for food justice and, after publishing an honors thesis on the connection between nutritional status, obesity, and the academic achievement of children, I decided to dedicate my career to making fresh, healthy food accessible to everyone. San Francisco felt like the right place to do that and I started my career as the communications director at a Bay Area nonprofit providing nutritious meals and groceries to the critically ill. I watched women with cancer see improvements in their treatments and I saw frail bodies regain strength with the power of healing food. For the first time in my life, I began to see food as medicine. What I didn’t know, at that monumental moment in my food journey, was that I would one day – in the not too distant future – need to use food as a way to heal and manage the symptoms of my own critical illness.
Continuing on my food journey, I spent five years designing and leading a nutrition and culinary program for children in the Garden at Oracle Park, a first-of-its kind edible garden inside the San Francisco Giants Major League baseball stadium, and then across the country with the goal of getting kids excited about vegetables and empowering them with the knowledge and skills to make healthy food choices.
Unfortunately, after being bit by a tick while hiking in Nepal, I fell sick with Lyme disease and the journey to take back my health has generated a burning desire to help others use the therapeutic power of food to prevent, manage, and heal from illness. I am now living that dream by deepening my nutrition knowledge with a Masters in Clinical Nutrition degree, leading one-on-one and group breathwork sessions that offer healing and energy breakthroughs, and serving as Client Experience + Brand Manager at Wellspace with the goal of helping others feel their best inside and out.
WHY I LOVE THIS WORK:
I love all-things-wellness because I have seen the power of it through my own healing journey. After falling ill with Lyme Disease, I became devastated by brain fog, memory loss, joint pain, debilitating fatigue, and vision impairment and, to my dismay, conventional medicine couldn’t provide the answers I needed. And so, I turned to what I already knew: food is medicine; the breath can heal. I began using food, herbs, mindfulness and the breath, and a low-toxin lifestyle to manage inflammation, promote detoxification, support digestive health and the gut microbiome, and strengthen my immune system, and the more I learned, the more I wanted to share this knowledge with others.
Having gone through a health battle of my own, I have empathy, compassion, and a deep understanding of what it’s like to be chronically ill and I have dedicated my career to helping others achieve newfound wellness and creating a paradigm shift in the way our world thinks about wellness.
