Clients who typically seek out my services are looking for support in making dietary and lifestyle changes for greater health and wellbeing. Many of my clients are struggling with either gastrointestinal issues, autoimmune disorders, chronic pain, chronic inflammation and/or weight loss. Having battled an autoimmune disease myself, I have developed a passion for the work I do in providing support, encouragement, education and guidance in finding their healing.
I’m a true believer that the body can heal itself and that sometimes we just have to get out of our own way! We must take a proactive role in getting healthy and staying healthy – I am passionate about helping others achieve that.
I take an integrative approach to my coaching, meaning we will take a look at not only what you put into your body nutritionally, but also what other hidden barriers could be preventing you from reaching your goals. Is your job less than inspiring? Are you in an unhealthy relationship? Are you lacking a meaningful spiritual practice? When you are lacking in any of these areas of your life you experience a hunger that cannot be satisfied by food alone. I will help you find a holistic balance that will infuse joy and satisfaction back into your life enabling you to break down barriers and regain your health and wellness.
I also believe in bio-individuality, meaning there is not one diet for all. We are all made individually and uniquely, and what might be ‘medicine’ to one person may be harmful to another. We must learn to listen to our bodies to find out what is right for us.
I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in Industrial/Organizational Psychology from Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego, CA as well as a certification in Integrative Nutrition Health Coaching from the Institute of Integrative Nutrition in New York, NY. After 15 years in the corporate world, I left my
profession to pursue my passion in health coaching. I have been practicing for approximately 4 years working with adults and adolescents.
Why I love this work
Having developed a passion for health and wellness through my own battle with an autoimmune disease, I decided to take what I’ve learned in my personal journey and turn it into a fulfilling career. I feel beyond blessed to wake up every day to do what I truly love. I am honored to have the opportunity to walk alongside my clients and support them in achieving their optimum health and healing. Nothing is more rewarding than to see a client overcome obstacles, break down barriers and find true healing from the inside out.
A little bit more about me…
My own personal health journey has led me to where I am today and for that I am grateful. At the age of 31 I was a newly wed and at the peak of my career as a Corporate Real Estate Manager for a Fortune 500 company. Life was great except that I was in a very stressful job situation and I was definitely burning the candle at both ends. It all came to crashing halt when I was given the diagnosis of Rheumatoid Arthritis. Within months following my diagnosis, my pain levels reached unbearable levels and my mobility declined significantly. Simple things such as turning a door knob, walking up a flight of stairs or even getting out of bed became a feat in itself. I eventually had to step down from my role in Corporate Real Estate to focus on my health. Over the next year I began my long journey to healing through many different holistic modalities. One of the largest contributing factors in my healing process has been dietary changes along with lifestyle changes, emotional healing and stress management. As painful as this journey has been for me, I will forever be grateful for all it has taught me. It has opened my eyes to what it means to truly be healthy physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually and how they are all connected. It has proven to me that the body has an amazing ability to heal itself and that our bodies will communicate what it needs when we learn how to tune into that.
I feel beyond blessed to now have the opportunity to take what I have learned from my own journey and help inspire others to find their own healing.
What Clients Say
“We worked with Kristy at Wellspace to help our daughter deal with some food-related issues and we couldn’t be happier with the support we received. Kristy was always pleasant and positive in our interactions and it was obvious that she was extremely knowledgeable and able to provide expert guidance. She set up a system for us to help our daughter through an elimination diet that was very clear, orderly, and well supported. While we worked through this challenging exercise, Kristy always made it doable by providing recipes and resources. She even sent us things during the week like recipes that were aligned with our daughter’s preferences. For example, if our daughter said she missed eating pretzels, Kristy would hunt down a great pretzel recipe and send it right away. She listened carefully to what we shared and made sure she understood our needs exactly by asking very astute and helpful questions. Kristy was very adept at looking holistically at what we were trying to do and could not only address the specific nutritional issues, but she was also able to understand and address the impact of stress and the larger context of our daughter’s daily experiences to provide an integrated solution. Furthermore, she was also very skilled at eliciting information and analyzing emerging patterns to better adjust the plan on an ongoing basis. We couldn’t have done it without Kristy and highly recommend her!”
