Clients

I am the right fit for you if you identify with any of the following:

  • You feel inundated with nutrition do’s and don’t, diets and supplements guaranteed to trim belly fat fast, and metabolism boosting tips and tricks that leave you right back where you started.
  • You struggle to let go of food cravings and unwanted eating habits but feel like you don’t have enough willpower or discipline.
  • You want to lose weight in a way that will last for the long term, by understanding and deepening your relationship with food – focusing not just on what to eat, but why, how, and when.
  • You want to feel in control of your body and eating habits but instead feel like food and/or negative thoughts about your body are controlling you.
  • You want to find love, acceptance, peace with your body but don’t know how or if it’s even possible.

My Approach

Your struggles with your body and with food do not stem from a lack of willpower or control, and they are not here to be solved with a quick fix. They are here to lead you to deeper truths about yourself that we will explore together. Instead of focusing on what you “shoulds and shouldn’t” be doing, or which foods are “good and bad,” I will help you discover what your own body has been trying to tell you all along. My approach is positive, empathetic, motivating, realistic, holistic, lighthearted, and extremely individualized. I always give homework assignments to experiment with eating habits, lifestyle changes, and mindset shifts.

Background

Before becoming a Nutrition & Eating Psychology Coach, I was a girl who struggled with anxiety, depression, a digestive disorder, a weak immune system, and the inability to find love and acceptance for my “inadequate” body. I would diet, bootcamp, and juice cleanse my way into losing weight, only to wind up feeling ten times worse than before. After discovering that the root of my chronic physical and mental health symptoms, stemmed largely from what I was eating, I became passionate about studying nutrition. And throughout the process, I began to develop a more compassionate relationship with my body. I wish I had known back then that the key to getting the body I wanted was by relaxing and loving my way into it, not by forcing, pushing, and guilting. Now, I treat my body with immense respect, by feeding it the right foods, but more importantly, the right thoughts.

My entire life changed so drastically for the better during this time that I knew I wanted to spend the rest of my life helping others feel happier and healthier too. I began studying holistic nutrition at Bauman College in Berkeley, CA in 2014 and received my certification as a Holistic Nutrition Consultant in March of 2016. As my studies and my work with clients evolved, I came to realize on a deeper level that while nutrition is foundational, overall health and happiness is incredibly holistic. The mind, body, heart and spirit are truly all connected. If you are struggling with something emotionally (stress, anger, past trauma), your body will respond accordingly, presenting those emotions as physical distress. In order to truly heal, we need to find nourishment and balance in all areas of life. I dove further into this concept by getting certified in Eating Psychology as well as Positive Psychology, and those studies gave me the tools to help my clients overcome the mental and emotional barriers they encounter on the path to a healthier self.

Why I love this work

I truly feel that this work is my calling in life, and I am very grateful to be living out my purpose on a daily basis. The joy and energy and I get from witnessing my clients change their lives for the better is indescribable.

A little bit more about me…

I am originally an east coast girl, went to college in Colorado, and then moved out to the beautiful Bay area in 2012. I love to be outdoors and active as much as possible, hiking in Marin or sampling all of San Francisco’s amazing yoga studios. I sang a cappella (think Pitch Perfect) in high school and college, but these days most of my singing takes place in the shower or at karaoke 🙂

What Clients Say

“I feel so fortunate to have received coaching from Sara. She has literally transformed my relationship to food. Instead of just helping me eat healthy, she helped me understand WHY I was making certain choices and how to create a mindful relationship to them. I used to eat meals in order to check out and avoid my problems but now my meals are an opportunity to check IN and become mindful about my relationship to food and lifestyle choices. Sara has a wonderful, positive attitude and I feel deeply supported by her on my path. She inspires me to apply a mindful approach to food and every area of my life!”

“I found Sara when I needed her most. Food was controlling me, and no matter how hard I tried, I was unable to gain the upper hand. Sara taught me how to become more mindful with my eating and helped me develop a healthier relationship to food. She is genuine, caring and supportive and works one on one with her clients to develop individual plans. Her recommendations were simple to implement and have already produced a remarkable positive impact.”

“I came to Sara because I had exhausted all other options to help me lose weight. As someone who wanted a structured diet designed for a quick fix, I was somewhat hesitant to work on mindfulness first. Sara helped me quickly learn that I haven’t been listening to my body for the last decade and that my eating behaviors were mostly primal. But now after working with Sara for 9 months, my relationship with food has taken a full 180 and I feel like I have tools for a lifetime. Her recommendations were simple yet effective. Adopting these new habits was a challenge at first but have now become second nature to me. I finally trust my body. And to top it off, all my friends and family have noticed a dramatic difference in my eating habits as well! I am so grateful for this life changing journey.”

“Working with Sara has been a life changing experience. Originally, I sought help to end the constant struggle of yo yo dieting, poor body image, and to lose weight. By focusing on my relationship with food and myself first, then making tweaks in my diet, I have now found a sustainable and healthy lifestyle. Moreover, my self confidence and positive body image have never been this high. Sara is always willing to go above and beyond to meet the needs of her clients and I cannot speak more highly of her approach to healthy living. She always greets everyone with a smile on her face and we developed a very special bond. I absolutely would recommend Sara to anyone looking to make a positive impact on their life, their relationship to food, and their body.”
